Opportunities to Enroll
United Way of the Plains (UWP) promotes enrollment activities through its Smart Start partners. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) review current client files to determine if family status has changed which would render children eligible for CHIP. CHIP paperwork completed by a FQHC on behalf of a client, will pay for services retroactively once eligibility has been determined.
UWP has provided monthly information and applications for CHIP at the Laid-off Workers Center, Emergency Assistance Network coalition meetings and has partnered with local homeless providers during the annual HUD Point In Time count to enroll children in families that are experiencing homelessness.
