HUSKY Infoline
In CT, HUSKY is the state's CHIP which provides healthcare to its kids, youth and some parents, relative caretakers, and pregnant women. HUSKY Infoline (HIL) is a specialized unit of the United Way of Connecticut/2-1-1 Infoline system which can be reached by simply dialing 877-CT HUSKY or 2-1-1. Callers are connected to knowledgeable, multilingual HUSKY Infoline staff that can provide advocacy, information and assistance, and educate families about the HUSKY program and its services, for example:
- Information and Assistance – provide information about the HUSKY application process, eligibility guidelines, and benefit package
- Care Coordination - advocate for enrolled families who need assistance obtaining healthcare services
- Eligibility and Enrollment – assist callers who are having difficulties obtaining and maintaining HUSKY coverage
- Training – distribute HUSKY materials and train professionals at events throughout the state
- Data Collection and Reporting – track caller's experiences and provide trend/barrier data to policy makers for system improvements
