REACH BC+: Retention and Enrollment to Achieve Children's Health and Build Capacity
Retention and Enrollment to Achieve Children’s Health and Build Capacity” (REACH BC+) aims to reduce the number of Wisconsin children (and their families) who lack health insurance. The overarching goal is to improve student health and well-being by improving access to care. The model develops regional partnerships between public school districts, UW Cooperative Extension and CESA (Cooperative Educational Service Agency) agencies, and additional community organizations, while enhancing and standardizing the public coverage knowledge base of all involved. REACH BC+ has been designed in cooperation with, and has tested strategies in, 16 Wisconsin school district communities over the past four years. Our findings demonstrate that these interconnected, local partnerships coupled with a strong base of knowledge are integral to ensuring that uninsured families can find the support necessary to navigate serpentine public health insurance processes. The model is now being expanded to four diverse areas of the state and centers around our BadgerCare+ Toolbox for schools and communities found at www.ckfwi.rog.
