United Way of the Inland Valleys Connecting Kids to Coverage

United Way of the Inland Valleys in Riverside County is proud to have accepted the Connecting Kids to Coverage Challenge.  We are working locally and with our state association, United Ways of California, to see that eligible but unenrolled children in our community get connected to the health coverage they need.

We lend our support to UWCA’s statewide advocacy efforts to promote simplification of enrollment and renewal processes and streamlining of eligibility determinations.  As a part of these advocacy efforts, we assist by educating business leaders, legislators, and other community leaders about the importance of health coverage programs for kids.

Locally, United Way of the Inland Valleys supports our local 2-1-1 center so that call specialists have all the information they need to direct families to Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, and other health coverage choices available in our community.   United Way of Inland Valleys also works closely with our local Children’s Health Initiative to ensure County kids have access to care.

In the coming months, we plan to distribute information on coverage choices available to Riverside County kids including but not limited to: Health fairs, community meetings, etc.  We will also be sharing outreach materials with our various community partners who work closely with the families of unenrolled but eligible children.  We will include the information in our campaign materials and deliver it to workplaces that we conduct campaigns in, as well as distributing the information at other public gatherings.
