The City of Tampa steps up to the Challenge

On September 23, 2010, the Tampa City Council passed and signed Resolution 2010-894 declaring support for Secretary Sebilius’ National Connecting Kids to Coverage Challenge recognizing the urgency to take meaningful steps to ensure uninsured children that are eligible for Florida KidCare are covered. The City of Tampa has partnered with Florida Covering Kids & Families (FL-CKF) to engage the residents and employees of Tampa, FL. This partnership will increase outreach efforts in the City and allow families to gain more information about Florida KidCare, Florida's CHIP and Medicaid program.  It will also create opportunities for families to get technical assistance with the enrollment and retention process. This new partnership will be a pivotal part of the services the City provides to its residents and employees. Both the City of Tampa and FL-CKF have coordinated innovative ways to engage Tampa's residents so the children of this community have access to quality, affordable, and comprehensive health care coverage.
